Abstract
This article examines Richard Wagner’s antisemitism, first in general terms and then specifically in relation to his music drama Siegfried. In Siegfried, this manifests itself primarily in the character of Mime, who is portrayed as a caricature of a Jew. Finally, the article discusses how Wagner’s antisemitic ideas can be addressed in the context of a historically informed production.
